| The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band (New York, NY): Roadrunner Records/Loud & Proud is releasing The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band’s new album, How I Go, on August 2nd, 2011. This is the band’s first studio album since signing with Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records last year and follows the release of the GRAMMY nominated album Live! In Chicago. Recorded in Sausalito, California’s Studio D, and produced by both Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his longtime collaborator and producer Jerry Harrison (Trouble Is, Live On,10 Days Out, Blues From The Backroads, Live! In Chicago), How I Go signals the band’s welcome return to the studio. With the help of co-writers Mark Selby and Tia Sellers (“Blue on Blackâ€), as well as Zac Maloy and Danny Tate, the new album offers a bounty of new material as well as covers from Albert King, Bessie Smith and The Beatles. Kenny and his band, which features Noah Hunt, Chris Layton, and Riley Osbourn along with special guest Tommy Shannon, have delivered a refreshing and inspiring take on guitar-driven rock n’ roll. How I Go offers a blues infused collection of music and more. Shepherd said, “We poured our hearts and souls into the recording of How I Go. My goal was to give longtime fans exactly what they want to hear on one of my records, while providing new fans an opportunity to experience my brand of blues based rock. I’m certain music lovers will clearly hear our musical roots while experiencing the growth and emotion that this record represents.â€Â The band is currently planning a US tour to begin in July. Since releasing his first record at the age of 17, Kenny has enjoyed two Platinum and one Gold album, six Top 10 singles, and his album Trouble Is holds the distinction of being the longest running album on the Billboard Blues Charts, hitting the two year mark. Kenny’s five albums have spent a combined 93 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Blues chart, tying with luminary B.B. King for most weeks ever atop the chart. 2010’s Live! In Chicago was Kenny’s 5th straight #1 blues album, an achievement matched solely by fellow guitar man Eric Clapton. Over the course of his career, Kenny has amassed five GRAMMY nominations, two Billboard Music Awards, two Orville H. Gibson Awards, the Blues Foundation’s “Keeping the Blues Alive†award and a Blues Music Award. In 2008, Fender released the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Signature Series Stratocaster. 2007’s CD/DVD 10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards, aired on PBS television nationwide and has been certified RIAA Gold as a Long Form Video. | JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Kenneth "K.K." Downing Retires Former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Kenneth "K.K." Downing has posted the following message on his official web site:
"I would just like to say a big thank you for your support and kind words. It is most heart-warming for me to be the recipient of such graciousness and compassion from you all.
"For some of you that would seem to desire some more details as to why I have resigned from the band, I can only say that there is nothing more underlying than I have already put in my initial statement. I would like to reassure you that I am still here for you and I am still the same person with the same feelings and sentiments.
"I have been lucky enough to have had a great life and to have fulfilled many goals, one of the most significant being the friendships that I have made with you my fans. Many of you I have met and we have enjoyed some time together, some of you I have just had a beer with and with others I might only have shared a couple of laughs or simply signed my autograph.
"Nothing could ever have been more rewarding than to have experienced and enjoyed our special relationship and the things that we have shared together — those being music, friendship and the love of life itself."
Downing, whose retirement from the band was announced last month, issued a statement regarding his departure from the legendary heavy metal group on the eve of its farewell tour. Downing said, "It is with much regret that I will not be with you this summer. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns about my health. Please rest assured that I am OK. There has been an ongoing breakdown in (the) working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time. Therefore I have decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to you, our cherished fans. However, I would urge you to please support the PRIEST as I have no doubt that it will be a show not to be missed."
Singer Rob Halford told French magazine Rock Hard, "K.K. leaving was his own decision, for the reasons he made public on his web site. . . K.K. has his own life to live and we can't force him to do anything he doesn't want to do."
The band has recruited 31-year-old British guitarist Richie Faulkner to replace Downing on the tour, with Halford saying, "K.K. can never be replaced; he's unique, and we didn't want any kind of K.K. copycat. Richie Faulkner came to Glenn's [Tipton, guitar] house to jam, and Glenn simply told me he was absolutely brilliant."
Although PRIEST plans to stop touring after this run, the band will continue to record and intends to issue a new studio album in 2012.

| Dream Theater - An Exclusive Look into The Band's Search for a New Drummer New York, NY: A little more than a month after original drummer Mike Portnoy’s sudden departure from Dream Theater, the band held three days of auditions in New York City. Over an amazing and productive three-day period, the band played, jammed and spoke candidly with seven of the world’s greatest drummers, learning about them musically, personally and professionally, and assessing the fit of each drummer’s incredible chops with the band’s trademark prog-rock sound.
Dream Theater have been extremely sensitive to the fact that this is not only a monumental decision in their own lives, but also a critical moment in the lives of DT fans around the world. “The departure of our lifelong bandmate and friend was an unexpected and truly heartbreaking blow,†says guitarist John Petrucci. “The fact that as a result of that event we’d be introduced to seven infinitely capable and uniquely talented drummers was heartening.â€
Dream Theater would like to share with its fans some of the intense process, along with the musical joy, that went into choosing a new drummer. Who is the best fit behind the kit?
Go to Dream Theater’s Facebook page on Thursday, 4/21 at 11 AM to sign up for the mailing list and to receive more details about an exclusive and intimate look at the auditions, and to find out exactly when and how the momentous announcement about the band’s new lineup will be made. | DUNGE0N D1G1TAL DA1LY w/kidkel69
When preparing for a review a good writer will research the band, songs, projects, web sites, and the such for an over all view of the entire compilation and sound arrangements to convey to the reader why, they too, shall support the artist and buy the record.
While researching my planned review of "EYE OF THE STORM," by professional studio artist's and nationally touring band RED SEA RISING, I was caught up in an ecliptic reality of more then music, but living, breathing emotion and enlightened energy.
EYE OF THE STORM first reminded me of an ALAN PARSON's type project, until I dove deeper into the world of the entourage of websites, collaborations and state of the art studio work that went into the making of Eye of the Storm.
My favorite track on the LP is "Just Bleed," flowing into the corners of your mind , reflecting on your own pains and pleasures, and ups and downs.
A rollercoaster of emotion.
"Walk Beside Me" is a complicated track. You must listen to loud with a good sound system to really grab the intelligence and grace behind the production.
I can't wait until RED SEA RISING members Jeffery Kerr ( Jet Ryder) lead vocals/ Ken Pinkstaff , lead guitar/Jimmy Salazar , rhythm guitars, vocals/ KC Anderson , bass/David Franklin (Lunchbox) drums/Steve Kapeller keyboards/GUNNER, everything and all, fly into the Milwaukee/Chicago area and rock the midwest.
Get it while it's hot! RED SEA RISING..what a strange trip it's been!
