What is A&R?

The function of Artist and Repertoire (A&R) departments in labels is to discover and ultimately sign new talent. These are the people who listen to your demos, attend your concerts, and most of the time tracking your sales so far.

It is essential that any record get some radio airtime, even just locally.

What can we do?

We effectively service stations from the CMJ (College Music Journal) level and up. In addition, we offer tracking of our radio servicing, allowing you some control over the product.

You will have access to information as to where your record is garnering airplay, and therefore be able to concentrate the promotional efforts in that region. Neilsen Broadcast Data Systems is the worldÂ´s leading provider of off-the-air music tracking for the entertainment industry. Employing a patented digital pattern recognition technology, Nielsen BDS captures in excess of 100 million song detections annually on more than 1200 radio stations in over 130 markets in the United States (including Puerto Rico) and 22 Canadian markets.Â´

How it works:

Songs are encoded by a computer, which creates a digital Â´fingerprintÂ´ that is used by BDS monitor sites. These monitors listen to a stationÂ´s frequency 24/7. Whenever a song is played on one of these stations, BDS searches its Â´fingerprintÂ´ database and logs the date and time the station aired the song.

BDS is currently detecting over 1.5 million songs per week on radio.

Why is this important?

BDS consequently ensures that you receive any and all royalties you are owed.

What exactly do we do for you?

Deevel will be responsible for getting your music officially listed in BDS, ensuring that major and independent labels know where and when your songs are played on the radio.
